Thai 47 trained for their Peace Corps service in Prachuab Kirikhan and Lampang. The volunteers of Group 47 arrived in Thailand in 1974 and served from 1974 to 1976. Thai 47 consisted of 49 volunteers who served in the Secondary TEFL, Vocational Agriculture Education, and School for the Blind program areas.
